How We Went From Small Town To RV Life!

Welcome to The Simple Mile RV

We Sold It All at 62 and Hit the Road — Our Full-Time RV Story

There comes a moment in life when you stop asking, “What if?” and start saying, *“Why not?” For us, that moment came at 62 years old when we sold nearly everything we owned, packed what was left into our RV, and chose a life built on freedom, purpose, and endless horizons.

We both grew up in a small Florida town — the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, where childhood memories were built on dirt roads, backyard adventures, and dreams we didn’t yet understand. Life led us in different directions for years, but somehow, through time and grace, we reconnected and started a new chapter together. Little did we know that chapter would eventually lead us to full-time RV living.

Before the wheels started turning, our lives were full of what most people consider normal. We remodeled houses, raised grandkids, worked hard, and filled our home with the comforts of stability — including those beloved recliners that felt like the final symbol of “settled.” But somewhere along the way, a dream began tugging at us. We wanted less stuff and more memories. Less routine and more discovery. Less noise and more peace.

So, we did what most people only talk about — we sold it all. And yes, that included the recliners.

Like most new RVers, we watched every video, read every article, studied every checklist, and convinced ourselves we were prepared. Spoiler alert: no amount of research prepares you for everything. Some lessons only come from experience — like learning how heavy rain really sounds on a roof, how to level on uneven sites, how quickly storage fills up, and how beautiful life feels when your backyard changes every time you drive.

But that’s the gift: RV life is not just travel — it’s growth.

We’ve learned to laugh at mistakes, celebrate small wins, and accept that adventure isn’t always picture-perfect. Some days are breathtaking, some are surprising, and some are simply ordinary — but every single one is ours.

Our hope is simple: that our journey encourages others to believe it’s never too late to chase a different dream. Whether you’re 25, 45, or 65 — your goals matters! Do your research, stay flexible, lean into courage, and choose the life that aligns with your purpose, not someone else’s expectations.

Comfort is familiar. Adventure is calling.
And sometimes, the biggest risk is never trying.
