Glacier National Park: Mountains, Magic & Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Welcome back to The Simple Mile, where no road trip is complete without dogs, snacks, and at least one moment where we question whether the GPS is silently judging us. Today’s adventure took us on a picture-perfect day trip to Glacier National Park in our RV tow vehicle — with our two furry copilots, Dinky and Bella, riding along like they were on the way to Disneyland. 🐶🐶

We started at the Two Medicine entrance, and while it was peaceful, quiet, and very postcard-worthy, it felt a bit like ordering a small appetizer when your heart was craving the all-you-can-eat buffet. We enjoyed the views, walked around, snapped our mandatory “proof we were here” photos, and then decided: Let’s chase the big stuff.

So, off we went to the St. Mary entrance, and that’s when Glacier National Park said, “Oh… you wanted WOW? Hold my snow-capped mountains.”

From the moment we drove in, it was like Disney, National Geographic, and a screensaver from a brand-new laptop had a baby. We saw towering mountains, glowing blue water, and a waterfall straight out of a shampoo commercial, all while repeatedly yelling, “LOOK! LOOK OVER THERE! DID YOU SEE THAT?” like two people who’d never left their hometown.

The drive eventually came to a stop because the road was closed for the season, which is park-ranger language for:
“You two are adventurous, but please don’t try to be mountain goats.”

Lunch Fit for Champions (And Dogs Who Think They Deserve a Bite)

We stopped for a quiet, peaceful picnic surrounded by some of the best scenery Montana has to offer. No fancy charcuterie boards, no organic quinoa salad — just peanut butter sandwiches and crackers, packed lovingly by yours truly. Because nothing says nature appreciation like sticky fingers and crumbs that may or may not blow directly into your shoe.

The dogs stretched, sniffed, and explored like tiny four-legged park rangers on duty. Dinky scanned the area like a trained professional. Bella scanned for snacks like a trained beagle.

A Day Full of Ahhh… and Aww…

There was no drama, no breakdowns, no surprise repairs — just fresh air, blue water, snow-dusted peaks, and two humans feeling incredibly grateful to live this crazy, simple, mobile life.

It was one of those days where:

✔ The scenery takes your breath away
✔ The dogs think they own the park
✔ You forget about laundry, checklists, and tank levels
✔ You realize PB sandwiches taste better outdoors

This trip reminded us of something important:

You don’t always need perfect plans, fancy meals, or a guided tour — just curiosity, snacks, and an open road.

So, if you ever get the chance to visit Glacier National Park, don’t walk — drive, roll, cruise, or be towed… just get there. And maybe bring extra peanut butter, just in case the dogs report you to park authorities for sandwich stinginess.

Until the next adventure,
